Emanuel Herrera Batista, known professionally as El Alfa El Jefe, was born on December 18, 1990, in Bajos de Haina, San Cristobal, Dominican Republic. He is a popular Dembow recording artist and composer who has performed in various venues, including Prudential Center, Madison Square Garden, and more. He has also played in major festivals like Baja Beach Fest, Vibra Urbana Festival, and Suenos Festival, where he has upcoming events.
El Alfa rose to popularity in the early 2010s with his high-pitched, sensual voice and initial afro hairstyle. His songs like “Tarzan,” “Coche Bomba,” and “Muevete Jevi” helped him gain a massive following. He formed good relationships with many artists from Puerto Rico, like Nicky Jam, Farruko, and Myke Towers, which led to one of the biggest collaborations in Dembow history. In December 2018, El Alfa released “Suave (Remix)” alongside Chencho Corleone, Bryant Myers, Miky Woodz, Jon Z, and Noriel.
El Alfa’s reach continued to grow, and he collaborated with international stars like Cardi B, J Balvin, Pitbull, Tyga, and Black Eyed Peas. His hit song “Singapur” surpassed the 200 million mark in February 2021. Currently, El Alfa has over 18,000,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and is ranked #164 in the world, making him the leader of the Dominican Dembow genre.
