As a huge fan of country music, I have to say that the genre has come a long way. From the classic tunes of Johnny Cash to the recent hit “Old Town Road”, it’s amazing how country has evolved.
One of my personal faves is Morgan Wallen. Do y’all remember him from The Voice? He participated back in 2014, and although he didn’t win, he’s now a huge country music star!
Lately, I’ve been listening to his recent releases, and I gotta say, he’s been absolutely crushing it. So, I decided to put together a list of his best songs.
Join me as we take a deep dive into Morgan Wallen’s greatest hits.
10. Wasted On You
Y’all remember how Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus brought country music to a whole new audience with their hit “Old Town Road,” right? Well, Morgan Wallen is another artist who’s mixing up the genre by combining hip-hop and trap elements with country, and his song “Wasted On You” is a great example of this.
Now, get this, there are actually two versions of the song – one with some trap influences and another that’s more acoustic. But, let me tell you, I love both of these renditions, but the one with the trap beat just hits different, you know what I mean? It’s gotta be my favorite version.
So, if you’re in the mood for some country with a little extra flavor, go ahead and give “Wasted On You” a listen.
9. Whiskey Glasses
Alright folks, let’s talk about one of the best songs by Morgan Wallen, “Whiskey Glasses”. This tune was released back in 2018 and it’s all about the struggle of being in love with someone you can’t have. I mean, who hasn’t been there, am I right?
This song is a real tear-jerker, but it’s also super relatable. It’s no surprise that the heartfelt lyrics have made many people fall in love with country music. Just take a look at the comments on the music video – so many folks have said that they never really vibed with country until Morgan Wallen came along.
So, get your whiskey glasses ready, put on this tune, and get ready to feel all the emotions. Morgan Wallen knows how to get to the heart of the matter, and “Whiskey Glasses” is definitely one of his best tracks.
8. Chasin’ You
So, I was jamming out to my Morgan Wallen playlist the other day, and I started thinking about what makes this guy so special. And you know what I realized? It’s all about the combination of elements in his music.
Take “Chasin’ You,” for example. This song has got it all: killer guitar chords, a live band that sets the perfect mood, lyrics that tug at your heartstrings, and of course, Morgan Wallen’s incredible voice. It’s no wonder that it was named the number one song of the year by Country Airplay.
I mean, I’m biased, but I truly believe that this is one of Morgan Wallen’s best songs. The way he sings about chasing after someone who’s no longer there is so relatable and emotional. And don’t even get me started on that chorus – it’s pure magic.
So, I’m throwing down the gauntlet – can you convince me that there’s a better Morgan Wallen song out there? I’m not so sure. All I know is that “Chasin’ You” is a must-listen for anyone who loves great music.
7. Sand In My Boots
Let’s talk about something we’ve all experienced at some point in our lives – meeting someone who makes us wonder “what if?” You know what I mean, right? That person you only met once but left a lasting impression on you. Well, Morgan Wallen knows exactly what that’s like and he captures it perfectly in his song “Sand In My Boots”.
Now, I’m not a music critic or anything, but I gotta say, this song is one of Morgan Wallen’s best. It’s part of his latest album called Dangerous: The Double Album. But what makes it so special? It’s the fact that the lyrics are just so relatable. I mean, who hasn’t thought about the one that got away, right?
So, if you’re feeling a bit nostalgic or you just want to vibe with a great song, give “Sand In My Boots” a listen. It’s a toast to all the lost loves out there, and I’m sure it’ll hit you right in the feels.
6. Cover Me Up
Have you heard Morgan Wallen’s cover of “Cover Me Up” by Jason Isbell? As a huge fan of Isbell, I was beyond excited to discover Wallen’s rendition of this hit track.
If you didn’t know, Isbell wrote the song about his wife Amanda Shires, but the lyrics speak to anyone who’s experienced the vulnerability and strength of a romantic relationship. Plus, the added layer of coping with alcohol addiction makes it even more powerful.
I’m pretty sure Isbell would be thrilled with Wallen’s cover bringing even more attention to this stunning song. So, if you’re a country music lover like me, give it a listen – you won’t regret it.
5. More Than My Hometown
So, I gotta tell you, I’m a huge fan of Morgan Wallen’s music. I mean, the guy’s got some serious talent! But what really sets him apart from other country musicians, in my opinion, is his music videos.
Have you seen the video for “More Than My Hometown”? If not, you’re seriously missing out. It’s like watching a mini-movie that perfectly captures the emotion of the song. And can we talk about Morgan’s mullet? That thing is legendary!
Honestly, I think the visual element of his music is just as important as the music itself. The combination of the two is what makes his work so special. So, if you haven’t checked out his music videos yet, do yourself a favor and give them a watch. You won’t regret it!
4. Spin You Around
If you’re a fan of country music, you’ve probably heard of Wallen and his soft, acoustic tunes. But have you checked out his song “Spin You Around”? It’s got a totally different vibe!
“Spin You Around” starts off strong with some distorted guitars and a rockin’ guitar solo that’ll have you tapping your feet and nodding your head in no time. It’s definitely a departure from Wallen’s usual sound, but don’t worry, even if you’re a die-hard country fan, you’ll still enjoy this track.
So, if you’re in the mood for something a little more upbeat and groovy, give “Spin You Around” a listen.
3. 865
Morgan Wallen’s love for East Tennessee shines through in his music, especially in his hit song “865”. The area code of his hometown serves as a lucky number for Wallen, reminding him of the good times he had growing up in the region.
Born and raised in East Tennessee, Wallen’s passion for music started at an early age. He’s always been proud of his roots, and his hometown has played a significant role in shaping his career.
“865” is a heartfelt tribute to the place Wallen calls home. It captures the nostalgia and yearning for the region that he and many others feel. The song’s catchy melody and lyrics make it an instant favorite among Wallen’s fans.
Whether you’re from East Tennessee or just a fan of country music, “865” is a must-listen. It’s a song that embodies the spirit and soul of Wallen’s hometown and the people who call it home.
2. 7 Summers
If you’re a fan of Morgan Wallen, then you’ve probably heard his hit song “7 Summers”. But if you haven’t, let me tell you, it’s a must-listen!
Personally, I think it’s one of Wallen’s absolute best songs. What makes it so special? Well, for one thing, the vocals are amazing. Wallen always sings with a lot of skill and emotion, but there’s something about this particular performance that really grabs me.
When you add in the harmonies from the rhythm and lead guitars, it’s like the song was made in heaven. It’s a real country masterpiece!
Honestly, I don’t know how Wallen didn’t win The Voice with this song. It’s a 10/10 for me! So if you haven’t given “7 Summers” a listen yet, do yourself a favor and check it out.
1. Warning
Morgan Wallen may be new to the country music scene, but let me tell you, he’s already got some real gems under his belt. It’s been tough to pick just one fave, but after much deliberation, I’ve gotta give it up to “Warning.”
I don’t know what it is about this song, but every time I listen to it, I feel like I’m on top of the world. It’s got this amazing energy that just makes me want to sing along at the top of my lungs. And can we talk about that beat? So catchy!
Honestly, I’m just really excited to see where Morgan Wallen’s career goes from here. If he keeps putting out bangers like this, I have a feeling he’s gonna be a big name in country music for a long time to come. So, give “Warning” a listen and let me know if you love it as much as I do!
