Early Life
Meet Money Man, a rapper born on February 27, 1986, in New York, who moved to Atlanta, Georgia, when he was just a youngin’. As a kid, he was already a music lover and would listen to a ton of Jazz Records like Dave Brubeck, and others. But growing up in the streets of Georgia, Money Man admits he would also get involved in the streets.
Tysen Jay Bolding, his real name, later changed it to Money Man. He started playing music at the age of 9 and by the time he was 15, he had graduated from listening to Jazz Records to hip hop legends like The Notorious B.I.G. In 2010, he started recording music and trying to establish himself as an up-and-coming rapper.
Now at 36 years old, Money Man’s music career has taken off, and he’s known for his hard-hitting lyrics and unique style. From his early love of Jazz to his current success in the hip hop world, Money Man has come a long way.
Career
Money Man started making waves in the rap game back in 2016 when he released his “Black Circle” mixtape series. He collaborated with big names like Young Thug, Gucci Mane, and Akon, which helped put him on the map. His solo singles, including “Boss Up” and “How It Feel,” gained public attention and led to him being signed by Cash Money Records in 2017.
Despite releasing three consecutive mixtapes under Cash Money, Money Man eventually decided to part ways with the label. Since then, he’s seen a huge increase in popularity, going from roughly 400k monthly Spotify listeners to nearly 5.5 million. He also teamed up with Empire Records and released his “Epidemic” mixtape in March 2020.
In addition to his mixtape success, Money Man released his debut studio album, “Paranoia,” in 2019. It featured 25 tracks and even made it into the top 40 of the Billboard 200.
